In October of 2007, the newly-minted Production Arm of The New Orleans Bingo! Show, headed by Executive Producer Ron Rona, unveiled the next phase in the ongoing evolution of downtown New Orleans’ favorite multi-media alt. cabaret fiasco.  With the help and support of Rehage Entertainment, the aptly named New Orleans Bingo! Parlour made its debut at the Voodoo Music Experience, marking the birth of a homegrown showcase for the avant garde of downtown New Orleans’ music and performance scene.  Decked out in running panels of Black, Red, and Gold, the Parlour drew huge crowds daily, both in the name of such national acts as Ghostland Observatory, Lez Zeppelin, Ghost, and Andre Williams and such local stalwarts as The Morning 40 Federation, Quintron & Miss Pussycat, and Fleur de Tease.  In all, The New Orleans Bingo! Parlour played host to 27 groups, national and local, over the course of the three-day festival.

In October of 2008, The New Orleans Bingo! Parlour made its return to the festival grounds of The New Orleans Voodoo Experience.  In a remarkable display of lessons learned from 2007’s inaugural appearance, the new stage was housed in an honest-to-god big-top circus tent and equipped with the best lighting and sound available in New Orleans.  Having made the decision to feature fewer artists per day, the Parlour became a trophy case for the cream of the New Orleans crop and a home away from home for such eccentric national acts as Man Man, The Gutter Twins, Shudder To Think and The Butthole Surfers.  Called “the coolest venue at Voodoo” by Offbeat Magazine music editor Alex Rawls, the 2008 Bingo! Parlour succeeded in creating a theatrical environment within which the audience was given a concrete context by which to appreciate the myriad artistic presentations that cycled across its lamp-lined stage.

Rest assured, The New Orleans Bingo! Parlour has returned in 2009.  With its ongoing mission to cast a national spotlight on the amazingly talented pool of avant bohemian artistry in downtown New Orleans’ ever-developing performance scene, the Production Team of The New Orleans Bingo! Show will know no rest until every member of our family is a household name.  Or, at the very least, an esoteric answer in the later rounds of a high-stakes episode of Jeopardy.
